How to Remove a Windshield Mirror Wedge

    • 1). Remove the mirror itself from the wedge button, which is attached to the windshield, by loosening the screw with the appropriate screwdriver. The mirror will then slide up or down off of the mounting button.

    • 2). Loosen the adhesive holding the button to the mirror by heating it with a hair dryer. Hold the dryer 8 to 10 inches away from the mounting button for three to four minutes.

    • 3). Pull the mounting button away from the mirror slowly. Use a razor blade to cut away any remaining adhesive holding the button in place.

    • 4). Scrape away any existing adhesive from the windshield with a razor blade. Use a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining adhesive residue on the windshield.
