- 1). Vacuum the hardwood floors thoroughly. Use vacuum cleaner crevice tools to clean between couch cushions, in all corners, along all baseboards and any places where flea eggs or larvae may hide.
- 2). Put on a dust mask and mix 20 Mule Team Borax with diatomaceous earth in equal parts in a pail. Mix thoroughly with a spoon so it is well blended.
- 3). Pour some of the mixture on the floor and use a push broom to work the solution into all corners, along baseboards and in any cracks. Small cracks between floor planks and cracks near baseboards house fleas in a home with hardwood floors.
- 4). Work some of the mixture into couches and chairs between cushions. If cushions are removable, place the mixture underneath each cushion. Work the mixture into cracks on walls between paneling and sheetrock and underneath cabinet edges.
- 5). Leave the mixture down and vacuum it up in three to four days. This mixture irritates the skin on the fleas and tears their outer shell. Without a fully functioning outer shell, the flea will lose body moisture, dry up and die.
