- 1). Use a large spoon to scrape up as much of the Wite-Out as you can. Work from the outside of the stain in toward the center. Remove any large chunks or smaller pieces that may flake from the mass.
- 2). Use a clean paper towel to blot up the remainder of the loosened stain. If the paper towel doesn't work, vacuum the spot to see if additional particles will be removed.
- 3). If the stain still lingers after vacuuming, apply rubbing alcohol, citrus cleaner, or dry-cleaning solvent to the stain. Do not dilute any of the items with water; leave them at their natural concentration. Do not put any of these products directly on the stain. Put them on a clean, white towel first, and then gently rub the towel against the stain to remove the Wite-Out. Rinse the spot with warm water, but do not use so much water that the carpet is soaked.
- 4). Use a paper towel, dry cloth, or vacuum cleaner to blot up any excess stain.
- 5). If any stain remains, mix 2 cups of warm (not hot) water with 1 teaspoon of bleach-free detergent. Apply this mixture directly to the Wite-Out stain, and let it sit for five minutes. At the end of five minutes, gently rinse the area with warm water, but do not soak the carpet.
- 6). Use a paper towel, dry cloth, or vacuum cleaner to blot up any excess stain.
- 7). If the stain remains, spray a bit of glass cleaner on a clean, white towel, and wipe gently at the stain. Rinse with warm water, and then use a dry cloth to absorb any excess moisture.
- 8). If the stain remains, apply a small amount of nail polish remover to a clean, white towel, and wipe gently at the stain. Rinse again with warm water (not enough to soak the carpet), and then use a dry cloth to absorb any excess moisture.
- 9). If the stain remains, repeat the steps that you observed had the greatest effect. If they all had equal effect, repeat Steps 1 through 8.
