How to Wire a 220-Volt Range

    • 1). Remove the electrical cover panel on the back of the range. It most likely will be fastened with one screw.

    • 2). Remove one of the screws from the strain relief fitting and place it into the hole where the power cord will run into the range. Slide the power cord up into the electrical box through the strain relief fitting.

    • 3). Connect the black and red wires to the outer terminals on the terminal block. It does not matter which goes where since both are "hot." Connect the white wire to the middle terminal on the terminal block. Tighten the screws to hold them in place.

    • 4). Connect the green wire to the ground screw (if using a four-wire cord) and remove the copper bonding strip that links the ground screw and neutral terminal.

    • 5). Install and tighten the other screw that came with the strain relief so that the cord is tight.

    • 6). Screw the cover plate back on to the back of the range.

    • 7). Plug the range into a 220-volt outlet to test it.
