Turning Your Bedroom Into a Safe Haven

Babies love to explore.
While they are young infants, the most they can do is look around at the world surrounding them and can only touch what is within their reach.
One day, they will learn to roll over and discover a way to get closer to whatever they set their sights on.
Eventually, they will begin to crawl and then walk - and when they do, there is no stopping them.
While this is an exciting part of your baby's development, it is also a time of stress.
Why? Because now they can get into anything and everything.
Suddenly they are interested in everything around them: the kitchen cabinets, the garbage can, dresser drawers and even your jewellery box.
While you can plug electrical sockets and tie drawer handles together, there are other items that make it hard to baby proof.
Keeping doors closed may keep your baby out for a while but once they discover how to turn a door handle (which is sooner than you think), you need to think outside of the box.
Your baby will be automatically drawn to areas that seem forbidden.
The kitchen, the bathroom and your bedroom are full of surprises that your baby can't wait to explore.
While you probably understand the safety issues of your baby exploring the bathroom and kitchen, you may not see the risks of him rummaging through your bedroom.
Your probably imagine your baby digging through your drawers and throwing clothes around but have you considered your jewellery box? While the clothes and shoes probably won't be damaged by your baby, you will probably wonder how to keep your jewellery safe from your baby.
However, you should really be wondering how to keep your baby safe from your jewellery.
Mum's earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings can be dangerous for babies because of their risk of strangulation and choking.
Sharp pendants and the backs of earrings can also cut your baby.
The best way to make your jewellery safe for your baby is to keep them high up and out of your babies reach.
Since your baby will still like to explore your room, you can keep a plastic or rubber jewellery box within your baby's reach full of accessories that are safe for your baby.
Silicone teething necklaces are completely safe for babies to play with and can actually offer relief for their aching teeth.
Their bright colours and easy to hold shapes make them appealing and pleasing to babies.
Your baby may think they are exploring forbidden treasures without knowing that these necklaces are especially made for them.
Your jewellery will be safe from your baby and your baby will be safe from your jewellery.
For a mummy, this is a job well done.
