In this article we will compare 3 different options to consider before buying an eBook reader.
The electronic reading device reviews below will outline the features and specifications for each item which will hopefully make it easier for you to make a decision between them.
1.
Amazon Kindle:
Probably the most talked about reading device is the Kindle.
The Amazon version of a portable reading device can hold up to 1500 books, has global wireless coverage and is lightweight, measuring at 10.
2 ounces and just over 1/3 of an inch thick.
You can download books in 60 seconds and with 3G wireless you don't have to worry about any contracts or monthly fees.
The screens have a paper like display, even in direct sunlight you won't have to worry about glare.
You can use the read-to-me function and have your books read to you and also enjoy a built-in dictionary.
There is a large selection of books, magazines, blogs and newspapers to choose from, and it offers low book prices even for New York Times Best Sellers and new releases.
2.
Sony Digital Reader:
This electronic reading device offers most of the same features as its counterpart the Kindle with a 6 inch screen display, but it also has touch screen navigation.
You can turn pages with the swipe of your finger, take freehand notes and also highlight sections of text that you might want to look at again later.
It also comes with eBook library software that allows you to export your notes to your computer.
The Sony Reader supports both industry standard format, ePub and PDF so you can have access to a wider number of books and the places you get them from.
It can hold up to 350 books at one time.
3.
Amazon Kindle DX:
This version of the Kindle comes with a larger 9.
7 inch screen display.
It can hold 3500 books and periodicals at one time which is quite a bit more than the original Kindle, however it is limited to U.
S.
Wireless.
It includes all of the other features that the Kindle does, but offers 16 shades of gray which results in sharper images and text.
It also has an auto-rotating screen so you can switch between landscape and portrait easily.
In this article we looked at 3 different electronic reading devices and outlined the different specifications for each.
Before purchasing any of the above options, look at the differences between the Amazon Kindle, the Sony Reader and the larger screen and storage option of the Amazon Kindle DX.
