How Do I Replace a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant Fuel Pump Relay?

    • 1). Place the vehicle in park or first gear (manual transmission) and set the parking brake. Shut down the engine and open the hood.

    • 2). Find the relay control box. It is located on the right side of the engine bay, next to the driver's-side fender.

    • 3). Read the diagram on top of the relay control box and note the location of the fuel pump relay. Remove the cover from the box and pull out the relay by hand. Discard the old relay.

    • 4). Insert the new fuel pump relay into the fuel pump relay receptacle. Replace the cover on the relay control box. Close the hood.

    • 5). Start the vehicle and verify that the fuel pump and relay are operating properly.
