- 1). Brush your hair thoroughly with a natural bristle brush. This will help to clean your scalp and hair and start to activate your scalp's oil glands. Do not scratch your scalp with the brush, use slow gentle strokes.
- 2). With your fingertips, start at the nape, back by the neck, and massage your scalp using a circular motion. Avoid using your finger nails to prevent injury to your scalp. Move your fingertips up the back of your head continuing with a circular motion. Once you reach the forehead area, continue the massage on each side of your head. Be sure to take your time and massage your entire head for about five minutes.
- 3). Apply the liquid antiseptic carefully to your scalp and be sure not to get any in your eyes. Use a towel to protect your face if needed. Lightly rub the antiseptic into your scalp and let sit for five minutes. You may feel a tingling sensation. This means the antiseptic is working.
- 4). Rinse the antiseptic out of your hair with warm water. Apply a quarter-sized amount of a good quality moisturizing shampoo and massage into your hair and on your scalp. Do not rub too vigorously or you may cause further irritation to your scalp. Rinse your hair completely until there are no more suds present. You may shampoo your hair twice if you feel it is necessary.
- 5). Apply a quarter-sized amount of a moisturizing conditioner to your scalp and hair. Use conditioners that have natural ingredients. These will benefit your scalp the most. Harsh chemicals can cause your scalp to become dry. Rinse the conditioner out of your hair with warm water.
Massage a leave-in conditioner into your scalp and through your hair. Wrap a warm damp towel around your hair and let sit for a few minutes or until the towel starts to cool off. Remove the towel and style your hair as usual.
