There are many things to consider when buying a coffee table, let alone any furniture for your home.
Many choices are available when it comes to shapes, but square coffee tables offer many benefits that you may not get from other shapes.
Many rooms in your house are most likely rectangular or square in shape, so naturally a square coffee table would fit the mold for any room.
A square one fits very nicely in any corner of the room and maximizes the use of space in the room.
They also fit nicely against a couch or sitting chair if you need somewhere to place your food or drinks.
You can also place it in front of the couch for a nice footrest or a place to put your books and magazines.

There may not be room for more than one, but I usually prefer one to fit between the two chairs anyway.

This storage space can drastically reduce the clutter in your room.
On top of that, drawers and cabinets will hide everything that you are storing.
Just be careful not to make this the eventual catch-all or dreaded junk drawer.
Remember, the point of the table is to entertain and provide your guests with useful/entertaining space.
You probably don't want them looking at all the things you couldn't find another spot for, which can be a little embarrassing.
