How to Disguise a Window Air Conditioner

    • 1). Use your existing curtains to disguise your air conditioner and hide it when it is not in use. Drape the curtains around the air conditioner to hide it, then open the curtains when you want to turn the unit on. If the window does not have curtains, purchase a single curtain long enough to cover the air conditioner, then either hang it from the existing curtain rod or mount it part way up the window, ensuring that the fabric is long enough to completely cover the unit.

    • 2). Purchase a custom cabinet that fits over your air conditioner, with wood slats to allow the air to escape. Use that cabinet to display knick knacks, photos and other items.

    • 3). Cover the bare plastic areas of the air conditoiner with colored paper, wrapping paper and other colorful items like buttons, photos and scrapbook paper. Use a quality double-sided tape to mount those colorful decorations.
