- 1). Buy a "glosser," which is a styling product that coats your hair with enhanced silicone oil, such as dimethicone or cyclomethicone. Mineral oil works just as well if you apply two or three drops in your hand.
- 2). Rub your hands together until your fingers and palms are coated with glosser or mineral oil.
- 3). Apply it to your hair by squeezing one section at a time. Style your hair as usual.
- 1). Consult a trusted stylist to give you the shortest look that's comfortable, which will begin a healthy foundation for your recovering hair. The best damaged hair is short hair. You'll need to let your split ends grow out completely, which can take up to a year.
- 2). Moisturize your hair at least once a week using a protein-rich product that your stylist recommends -- or one that you can create with organic products.
- 3). Make your own conditioner by beating two egg whites to a froth before incorporating five tablespoons of plain yogurt. Apply the mixture evenly throughout your hair. Rinse it out with cold or tepid water after 20 minutes.
