Homemade Kitchen Microbe Drain Cleaner

    Heat

    • The simplest way to prevent microbe buildup in your kitchen drain is to take advantage of heat. About once a week, pour half a gallon of boiling water down the drain. This will eliminate any grease buildup and kill harmful bacteria. When done regularly, this simple practice should make a noticeable difference.

    Vinegar

    • Vinegar is an excellent solution for cleaning your drains. By simply pouring a cup of vinegar down your drain once a week, you will reduce grease buildup and also deodorize your drain.

    Baking Soda

    • Combining baking soda with vinegar or boiling water is another excellent homemade drain cleaner. Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar or boiling water. Let the drain stand for half an hour or overnight, and then rinse thoroughly with cold water. The reaction of the baking soda and vinegar is particularly effective in destroying any bacterial buildup, and you won't have to worry about inhaling dangerous fumes.
