- 1). Stretch the balloon a few times to allow for easier inflation. Inflate the balloon by holding the opening of the balloon with one hand to your mouth and gently pulling and stretching the balloon away from you with the other hand blow air into the balloon. Leave about 5 to 6 inches of uninflated balloon at the bottom. Tie a knot in the opening of the balloon.
- 2). Pinch the balloon one thumb's length away from the knot, using your thumb as a measuring guide. Twist one full rotation and hold at the twist. This will become the dog's nose. Twist two more sections down the length of the balloon; each section is one thumb's length long using a single full twist. These will become the ears. While holding the nose twist, fold the ear that is farthest from the knot back toward the nose and twist together at the nose joint. This creates the dog's head.
- 3). Measure down the balloon a half a thumb's length and twist one full rotation and hold. This will become the dog's neck. Measure two more sections that are one thumb's length each with a single twist at each junction. These will become the front legs. Holding at the base of the neck, bend the farthest away leg back toward the neck and twist one more rotation with the neck.
- 4). Measure one thumb's length for the body. Twist one full rotation and hold. Measure two more thumb's-length sections with one full twist rotation at each junction. These will become the hind legs. Hold the base of the body, and fold the farthest leg back toward the body. Twist these intersections together. The excess of the balloon is the tail.
