If this is the case, then they might think that lying isn't a huge deal and they probably just can't stop themselves from doing it anymore.
-They feel inadequate.
Men, by nature, are egotistical and are therefore very cautious about women not liking them.
Because of this, they might pretend to be capable or knowledgeable in certain things that they are not and lie about them, even if they have no idea what those things entail.
-To avoid a fight.
Are you one of those women who get angry easily, even if all he has to say is that another woman is pretty or that you are starting to look a little pudgy? Sometimes, men simply lie to please their girlfriends or wives.

To catch him out, be more wary of lame excuses that include coming home late because of work or going out for drinks more frequently.
