Every American knows what nachos are.
Even those who refuse to eat it know what's inside it.
There are three components most predominant in this snack and they are: fats, sodium and calories.
Fats are found mainly from the cheese, cream, meat and other toppings like the refried beans that are commonly included in nachos.
These things are especially dangerous for people with cardiovascular diseases.
They are very high sources of fat and eating too much of these things can lead to hyperlipidemia or too much fat in the blood.
Chronic hyperlipidemia may lead to hypertension.
This results from the thickening of blood which make it harder for the heart to pump and distribute all over the body.
Also, too much fat in the system can also predispose a person to the build up of plaque in the blood vessels which is medically termed as atherosclerosis.
The excessive sodium contained in the commercially prepared ingredients of nachos like the chips, cheese and others are used to help prolong their viability.
However, too much sodium can alter the fluid and electrolyte balance inside the body which may lead to unwanted effects, one of them being the retention of water in the body.
Fluids inside the blood vessels shift into the tissues outside of the vessels resulting to edema or the swelling a body part, especially the lower extremities.
This can be corrected by removing the water through the use of diuretics and stopping the source.
Calories are good for the body since they are the primary source of energy.
But whenever there's too much of it, they are stored in the body in the form of fat.
And unless you want to become the next Manuel Uribe, you might want to regulate your intake of this thing.
