How to Upgrade the Memory on an HP Pavilion 753N

    • 1). Shut down your computer, and then disconnect the power cable from its socket. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

    • 2). Rotate the computer so the back panel is facing you. Place the computer on its left side. Remove the two Phillips-head screws from the upper- and lower-left corners of the back panel. Grasp the right access panel. Slide it away until it is completely removed from the computer.

    • 3). Locate the memory slots near the center of the motherboard. There should be two memory slots. Determine which RAM module you want to remove first. Spread its white retaining latches on each side of the module. Lift the module out of its memory slot. Store it in a static-free plastic bag. Repeat this for each module removed from the computer.

    • 4). Align the small notches on the new RAM module with the notches inside the empty memory slot. Place the module inside the memory slot. Press down on the module until the memory slot's retaining latches snap the RAM into place. Repeat this for each RAM module installed.

    • 5). Replace the right access panel, and its two retaining Phillips-head screws, on the back panel. Place the computer vertically. Re-connect the power cable and any external devices.
