- 1). Mix a solution of one part 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and one part water.
- 2). Pour the mixture into the water bottle. The peroxide solution will effectively kill and eliminate the algae from your bottle.
- 3). Add 1/2 cup of gravel to the water bottle. The gravel will help to dislodge algae that may be clinging to the bottom and sides of the water bottle.
- 4). Secure the lid on your water bottle and shake several times.
- 5). Allow the bottle to set for several hours and then empty the contents and dispose of the gravel.
- 6). Rinse the bottle a few times with fresh water. All traces of algae should be removed and your water bottle will be ready for its next use.
